Shari Jones is an artist who captures the essence of nature through gesture, color, and mark-making, creating works that evoke both light and emotion.

Her love for art began in childhood, shaped by her upbringing in Massachusetts and summers immersed in the landscapes of the Berkshires, the seascapes of Cape Cod, and the rugged beauty of coastal Maine. These experiences instilled a lifelong connection to the woods, vast skies, and open ocean, which continue to influence her work with a profound sensitivity to light and color.

Jones’s work is deeply rooted in the natural beauty surrounding her rural Connecticut studio. There, she finds inspiration in the interplay of shifting light and shadows across woodlands, meadows, and gardens. Her work reflects a diverse range of influences, including John Constable, Édouard Manet, Richard Diebenkorn, Helen Frankenthaler, Lee Bontecou, and Reggie Burrows Hodges.

For over a decade, Jones refined her creative vision in the design world, leading departments in men’s business and travel for Ghurka, Coach, and Calvin Klein. Eventually, she transitioned fully to her artistic practice, moving to the countryside to immerse herself in nature and focus on watercolors, ink drawings, and printmaking.

Jones studied French Literature at Mount Holyoke College, Art History at the Barnes Foundation, and Fine Art at Parsons School of Design.
